A LITTLE DESKTOP MAGIC · VELVET SCROLL

Why I created
Velvet Scroll.

A passing comment from a friend became a small improvement I could feel as soon as I tried it.

A conversation that stayed with me

A friend mentioned in passing that Linux could use better mouse-wheel acceleration. That small comment became the starting point for Velvet Scroll.

I wanted to make it easier to move quickly through a long page when I needed to, while keeping the control of a small, deliberate scroll.

From the idea to the first scroll

The first time I tried Velvet Scroll, I noticed how much easier a quick flick made getting through a long page.

It was a small change to an everyday interaction, but one I appreciated right away.

A little more control over the journey

Velvet Scroll is a mouse-wheel accelerator for Linux. Slow turns keep their precision; faster flicks move farther. Optional coasting adds a short, gentle glide after a fast flick.

The project has a native settings window, a tray toggle, and a lightweight Rust daemon. You can find the current features, installation instructions, and compatibility notes on the project site and in the repository.
